Recognizing the importance of ensuring that talented and committed individuals are serving all of our students, DCPS developed IMPACT, our system for assessing the performance of teachers and other school-based staff. To revise IMPACT for the 2012-2013 school year, we collected input from hundreds of teachers, school leaders, staff members, and other stakeholders during feedback sessions across the city. Through IMPACT, DCPS seeks to create a culture in which all school-based personnel have a clear understanding of what defines excellence in their work, are provided with constructive and data-based feedback about their performance, and receive support to increase their effectiveness.
