Vigilante Justice In a New York Middle School

Middle school teacher and, more notably, Dean of Discipline at I.S. 145, William Rinni has just been reassigned to the district office in Queens pending an investigation. He was arrested June 2 on charges that he spanked misbehaving students with a hairbrush. According to the allegations, instead of simply giving his middle school students detention, he also gave them the alternative of a spanking in his van after school (which we presume was motivated by the need to provide the illegal punishment off campus). This was not the first time such charges had been made; Rinni had previously accused of using corporal punishment in 2000 but charges were dropped.
