The new educational policy blog,
Eduwonk, confirmed last night the many rumors floating around Washington this week that Sandra Feldman is stepping down as President of the American Federation of Teachers for health reasons. The AFT has a proud tradition that began under the leadership of Al Shanker and continued under Feldman of being open to the reform agenda, occasionally even leading the pack. Feldman proved that most recently when she came out in support of the TAP program, which provides differentiated pay to teachers. We wish her the best.
