Kindergarten Cop in Nevada

True to its Wild West roots, the Nevada State Board of Education is actually considering deputizing teachers in order to supplement the thin ranks of school police. Initiated as a response to the Virginia Tech shootings and originally intended for the college level, some folks on the school board want to bring Kindergarten Cop to Sin City.

Teachers would initially have to pay out about $2,200 for training and uniforms (worth it if they get to sport a really cool badge!) but in return would earn an additional $3,000 annually for taking on the additional responsibility.

Fortunately, a few folks seem to have their head screwed on right. "I'm a common-sense guy, but it's hard to wade through this," says John Jasonek of the Clark County Education Association.

We're thinking this proposal is likely to be shot down soon.
