Parade magazine isn't one of our usual sources for meaty blog material, but we thought this week's "back to school" self-help quiz was actually worthy of mention.  The quiz was designed to help students improve their academic success by asking them if they know how to best learn and retain information.  It would make an equally good quiz for future teachers...only we suspect that all too many wouldn't pass, through no fault of their own.  Such principles ought to be front and center in teacher preparation programs, but we find little evidence that that's the case.
