Teachers who bring in their own desk clocks--usually because the one on the wall hasn't been working in 20 years--or fans to keep the temperature in their classrooms tolerable, are in for a rude awakening in Michigan. In an effort to cut costs, a growing number of school districts are charging teachers to use personal electronic appliances in their classrooms. The Chippewa Valley and Grosse Point School Districts in Michigan estimate they'll save between $25,000 - $45,000 a year with the new "pay to plug" restrictions.
