A number of researchers and economists are raising the red flag on teachers pensions, which as everyone knows are on a road to disaster. States and districts face rapidly rising costs for their current retirement benefit systems, but at the same time they're trying to answer questions about how to recruit and retain high quality teachers.
To shed light on these issues, the National Center on Performance Incentives hosted its second annual conference last February titled "Rethinking Teacher Retirement Benefit Systems." The papers from the conference, having been peer reviewed, are now available to the general public.
