RESOLVED, that the School Reform Commission hereby approves the Calendar for Schools, Early Childhood Programs, and Administrative Offices for the school year 2013-2014. The calendar shall be as follows:
The sessions for teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel begin September 3, 2013 and
close June 20, 2014.
School-based personnel will not be required to be in school on the following holidays and non-working
days: September 2, September 5-6, October 14, November 11, 28, 29, December 24 through January 1,
January 20, February 17, April 14 through April 18, (unless used to make up loss instructional days due to
school closing because of emergency or inclement weather) and May 26.
Teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel will be in attendance 188 days.
The sessions for elementary and secondary pupils begin September 9, 2013, and close June 19, 2014.
The first day for Pre-kindergarten, Head Start and Bright Futures pupils will be September 9, 2013. The
first day for Kindergarten pupils will be September 16, 2013.
Students will not be in attendance on the following days: September 3 through September 6, October 14,
November 5-6, November 11, November 28-29, December 24 through January 1, January 20, February 5,
February 17, April 14 through April 18 (unless used to make up loss instructional days due to school
closing because of emergency or inclement weather) May 6, and May 26.
Students will be in attendance for 181 days.
Administrative Offices and will be open Monday through Friday, with the exception of the following
holidays and non-working days: July 4, September 2, September 5-6, October 14, November 11,
November 28-29, December 25, January 1, January 20, February 17, April 18, and May 26.
In the event that schools are closed due to inclement weather or emergency, April 14, 15, 16, and June
20, 2014, and the required number of days thereafter, will be days of pupil and staff attendance to satisfy
the State minimum of 181 instructional days.
