Ed Liu
Ed Liu is the Chief Improvement Officer of Boston Plan for Excellence, which runs the Boston Teacher Residency, one of the pioneers of the teacher residency model in the early 2000s, and operates two Boston public schools. Prior to BPE, Dr. Liu was Assistant Professor of Educational Administration at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where his teaching and research focused on school leadership, teacher hiring, teacher policy, district HR policies, and new teachers' experiences. He began his career as a high school history teacher and founding Co-Director of Summerbridge Portland. This Breakthrough program prepared students from under-resourced communities for success in high school, college, and beyond and recruited and trained college students to teach program participants. Dr. Liu holds an EdD from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an MBA and AM in Education from Stanford University, and a BA in History from Yale.
