Today former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan published an open letter to higher education leadership, urging them to ensure that their teacher prep programs are sufficiently rigorous. In the letter, Duncan states: “Lowering our expectations not only does a disservice to the teaching candidates in these programs, but also to the students they’ll soon teach.”
